The Grand National is just around the corner and many people will be making preparations to make this one the best ever.

That includes picking out an outfit, shoes and making sure everything is in order.

So the question has to be asked - can you take your own food and drink into Aintree Racecourse during the Grand National festival?

The short answer is no.

Like most racing events, Aintree has a strict alcohol policy that states 鈥渘o alcohol can be brought onto the premises and this will be confiscated on arrival by a member of the security team.?/p>

So it is possible that you will be searched when arriving at Aintree and operates may ask to look inside your bag.

The same applies to food. The racecourse website states: 鈥淔ood and drink cannot be brought onto the racecourse and will be confiscated by security staff upon arrival.

鈥淎intree has a wide range of food and drink concessions on offer in all enclosures. Picnics can only be consumed in the parking areas.?/p>

But perhaps picnics in the car park aren鈥檛 such a bad idea - many race goers at Cheltenham decided to eat their picnics in the car park before heading in for the racing.
