UK Garage pioneers So Solid Crew are the t-t-talk of Liverpool.
The 21 Seconds all-stars are to play Liverpool International Music Festival in July in what promises to be a must-see set on Sefton Park.
The multi-BRIT Award winners are set to appear alongside the likes of Gorgon City, Naughty Boy, CAST, Kate Nash, Fleur East, JP Cooper and many more.
With Stormzy, Giggs and Skepta taking grime and UK hip hop to the masses, now's the chance for Liverpool music fans to see one of the all-time originators in the flesh.
With that in mind, here's 21 reasons t-t-to get excited about their forthcoming set at LIMF 2017
1. Who's in?
Let's be honest, this is one thing we all want to know - the classic line up best be at Sefton Park.
We want to see the crew, the whole crew and nothing but the crew.
The classic So Solid Crew features the likes of Lisa Maffia (the First lady), Romeo (done), MC Harvey (the ex footie player), Kaish (the one with the mad eyes), Oxide (the one who's not Neutrino), Neutrino (see Oxide), DJ Swiss (the socially conscious DJ one), Megaman (the businessman one), Asher D (the realy good at acting one) and A.M. SNiPER (the makes club bangers one).
You ain't gonna see Carl Morgan and G Man, though for obvious reasons.
2. The classics
No new songs, no time-wasting audience participation stuff, no DJ mixing for 10 minutes - wall to wall classics from They Don't Know, please.
3. Their reunion tour was ace
When they reformed in 2013 it was boss - so expect more of the same this time round.
4. And they've still got it
Just check out this footage from last week
5. Everyone's excited - even laid back cats like Hooton!
Literally everyone is excited about So Solid Crew - don't believe us, check out super cool, swaggering Hooton Tennis Club, who ordinarily wouldn't bat an eye lid if Kanye West was playing their back garden.
6. Do it for the kids
Let's be honest, it's gonna be bedlam down the front.
7. Old School
In 2006, So Solid's Lisa Mafia visited the Cavern Club during Easter to give workshops to upcoming Liverpool musicians.
She was helped by rock & roll legend Billy Bragg while hosting two seminars to help recruits young aspiring apprentices into the music industry. Good egg.
8. Know your mathematics
" 2 multiplied by 10, plus 1 - Romeo done. "
It wasn't all about that song - this was another big hitter, reaching #8.
10. Special guests
At their peak there were 30 members of So Solid - and they've brought various guests to the stage before - who knows who's gonna turn up at Liverpool. They're big mates of Stormzy's yano?
11. Charity work
Ashley Walters has talked and campaigned about the problem of violence on the streets and young people carrying guns and knives.
Most prominently when he met Richard Taylor, father of murdered schoolboy Damilola Taylor.
12. Top boy
It's not all about the music, So Solid's Ashley Walters, aka Asher D, has appeared in films like Bullet Boy, 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' and Stormbreaker, and in TV shows such as the BBC's Hustle, Channel 4's critically acclaimed Top Boy, police drama Cuffs and even Doctor Who.
If the band drop any other tracks, let's hope it's Oxide & Neutrino's massive 2000 Number One single Bound 4 Da Reload (Casualty), which features a sample from, well, Casualty.
To date, they have released three albums, as well as an EP in 2013, while Oxide also produced tracks for Lisa Maffia's debut album.
14. They're big Bongo's Bingo fans
15. Harvey's a Red
Harvey is a big Liverpool fan and has also been a non-league footballer for AFC Wimbledon, Aldershot Town and Lewes.
If there's one band you can rely on for unpredictability it's So Solid Crew - like Sly & The Family Stone or James Brown, they're original badass rock and rollers and whatever happens you can guarantee something worth watching at LIMF.
17. They've got big fans
18. New Liverpool talent
Liverpool's upcoming grime and hip hop scene is unreal at the moment - just check out GIT Award 2017 nominee Aystar for evidence.
19. Light it up!
How good would it be if the characteristic LIMF fireworks were to ignite when these bars from They Don't Know were dropped: "So light the fireworks, Sing like no one's heard, Let's dance, it's us against the world."
Make no mistake, these guys are pioneers of their art form - just look at that Award cabinet - Brit Awards, 3 Mobo Awards, Smash Hits Awards, UMS Awards, PRS Awards, EMMA Awards, Dance Star Awards, UKG Awards.
21. 21 Seconds - of course!
Do you even need to ask - it's gonna go off when this classic is played.
