While teachers everywhere relish the thought of a week of lie-ins, parents across Merseyside will be taking the reins from Monday and keeping the kids distracted as February half-term begins.

There are plenty of activities organised across the area but if it's a straightforward trip to the cinema that the kids are after, those nice people at the animation studios have been keeping the pictures in plentiful supply of family-friendly films for the week.

You'll find our picks below - although if you want to support some local talent at the same time, it's worth noting that The LEGO Batman Movie has a Wirral lad as one of its executive producers.

Check your nearest cinema for its full release list and times for half-term week.
