A teenager appeared in court today charged with shooting a man in Stockbridge Village.
Michael Whitty is alleged to have fired a self-loading handgun at 27-year-old Anthony Skyner, wounding him in the hand, on March 27 this year.
Whitty faces charges of wounding with intent to cause GBH, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and possessing a firearm without a certificate.
The teenager was not asked to enter pleas to the charges but his solicitor, Chris Mantle, said his client firmly denies the allegations.
Mr Skyner was shot as he walked through an alleyway near The Birches, Stockbridge Village, shortly before 10pm.
He required surgery to remove an artery from his thumb and suffered nerve damage to his hand.
District judge Andrew Shaw passed the case to Liverpool Crown Court where Whitty will next appear on May 10.
