There was a heavy police presence in Norris green on Tuesday night after shots were fired at a car and a house.
Police closed a section of Scarisbrick Road, off Walton Hall Avenue and forensic science officers gathered evidence.
Police said they were appealing for witnesses.
A spokesman said: 鈥滱t around 5.55pm, a call was received reporting shots being fired in Scarisbrick Road. Armed police attended and casings were found in the road. Damage was caused to a car and wall, although nobody is believed to have been injured. Enquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
鈥淩oad closures have been put in place on Scarisbrick Road at the junctions with Broadoak Road and Mildmay Road. The scene has been secured while forensic and door-to-door enquiries are carried out, and high-visibility patrols will be in the area to provide reassurance to local residents.?/p>
A witness at the scene said police were concentrating on a car parked within a cordon.
He said: 鈥淭hey鈥檝e definitely going over the car outside a house with a fine tooth comb. They have lights on it now. There are three or four of them crawling all over it.?/p>
The ECHO was contacted by a reader this evening who said that armed police had been in the area, that there were 鈥渏eeps everywhere鈥?and that the police helicopter was up earlier.
This is the second such incident this week, following a 鈥渄rive-by鈥?in which shots were traded between two cars on Worcester Road, Bootle on Saturday evening.
