A former boxing prodigy shot in a gangland dispute was caught with cocaine after flagging down police and saying: 鈥淚鈥檝e been on a bender.?/p>
Lee Siner, 31, was slurring his words, grinding his teeth and sweating profusely when officers stopped to speak to him in Holt Road, Kensington, on January 6.
Siner, of Clint Way, Edge Hill, was fined £100 at Liverpool Magistrates鈥?Court today after he handed over a bag of cocaine he bought 鈥渙ff some lad鈥?for £50.
Ali Munair, prosecuting, told the court: 鈥淥fficers on mobile patrol were travelling down Holt Road when they were flagged down by Lee Siner, who wanted to report an incident that happened nearby.
鈥淗e was heavily intoxicated and slurring his speech, and his clothes were dishevelled. He was grinding his teeth and officers noticed fresh cuts on his hands and knuckles.
鈥淭he defendant remained with the vehicle while other officers went to check what had happened. He said he had been on a bender for a few days taking cocaine and drinking whisky.?/p>
The court heard Siner, without being asked by police, produced a bag of white powder from his pocket and handed it to the officers, telling them it was cocaine.
Ian Taylor, representing Siner, told the court his client had referred himself for drug and alcohol counselling and had 鈥渇ully cooperated with police鈥?
He said: 鈥淚 hesistate to say that if he had never flagged down the officers he would never have come to the attention of police.?/p>
The court heard Siner鈥檚 last conviction was for perverting the course of justice, after paying to have penalty points removed from his driving licence.
Siner, formerly one of the top names at Liverpool鈥檚 acclaimed Salisbury ABC gym, narrowly escaped with his life after being shot in view of his wife and 18-month-old son in October 2014.
Sources told the ECHO the attack was the result of a feud with a notorious city gangster.
He was chased down the street by a lone gunman and shot three times in the back after leaving a home in Maberley View, Wavertree.
Siner was also subjected to a chilling three man attack when he was stabbed in the arm, slashed in the leg and attacked with a crook lock at Kimos restaurant, Myrtle Street, in 2010.
Watch the CCTV:
City gangster Anthony Richardson, who was jailed for eight years for his part in the attack, said it was revenge after Siner 鈥渒nocked out鈥?another underworld crook, James 鈥楶ancake鈥?Taylor, in Garth prison in Leyland.
Taylor was later jailed for nine years in relation to the incident, which was described in court as an 鈥渦nderworld vendetta鈥?
City magistrates鈥?also ordered Siner to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge after her admitted possession of a Class A drug.
