ECHO readers debated whether it is right for a drama to be filmed about the turf war that led to the murder of Rhys Jones.

The four part ITV drama, starring Merseyside actor Stephen Graham , is using a pub in Astley, Wigan, as a stand in for the Fir Tree Pub in Croxteth which is near to where Rhys was murdered.

Schoolboy Rhys was shot dead outside the Fir Tree pub in August 2007 as he walked home from football practice in his Everton FC kit.

The innocent 11-year-old was a victim of gang violence as the hooded teenager who fired from a mountain bike was aiming at members of a rival mob.

It is believed the new series will be called 鈥楲ittle Boy Blue鈥?

While Laura Elizabeth Davies said: 鈥淭o be fair, there have been a lot of shootings round Liverpool over the last month or so. These kids need to see sense.?/p>

Leanne Mutch added: 鈥淥ne of the worst things this city has seen alongside Jamie Bulger .. should never of happened .. poor innocent baby walking home from training ..

Jenny Hobbs said: 鈥淵eah it鈥檚 going to be heartbreaking for everyone to watch especially the Jones family but maybe it鈥檚 about gangs and what kind of heartbreak they cause to family鈥檚 by killing or injuring innocent people and try and get some sense into their stupid heads and that they need to turn their weapons in before the kill someone else!?/p>

Pictures taken on Monday show actors in white forensic suits stood within the grounds of the pub, while floral tributes and blue scarves in a nod to Rhys鈥?passion for Everton Football Club are laid outside.

Actors portraying police officers and Rhys鈥?relatives and friends were also seen standing nearby.

Some readers didn鈥檛 believe there should be a drama made.

Mike Donohue said: 鈥淎nother chance for the outside world to look at the city with blinkered eyes. This will do us no favours and portray the people of our great city as gun totting thugs.

鈥淲hy do the participants fall for it every time. Their 15 minutes of fame will cost us dearly and further damage our fragile reputation. RIP Rhys鈥?
